2014
In the summer we both attended The Wickerman Festival separately. We were introduced through Kayleigh’s brother Craig. Kayleigh instantly felt comfortable – Dannie was the only person in the group with a “normal” name. We clicked straight away and ended up spending the whole weekend stuck to each other’s side, much to Craig’s annoyance.
Dannie added Kayleigh on Facebook straight after the festival and we ended up chatting to each other every day.
Soon after, we had our first date at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival which is a story in itself!
Dannie was staying in Kirkcudbright and ended up driving to meet Kayleigh in Peebles almost every weekend after.
We found out Kayleigh was pregnant in December. We were both nervous as it happened quite fast, but nerves soon turned to excitement at the prospect of becoming parents together.
2015
We continued to spend almost every weekend together until Dannie was practically moved in to the flat in Peebles.
Leo was born in the summer and it was a very exciting time for everyone! We naturally took to being parents and adapted very well together.
2016
Kayleigh moved us in to our current flat, while Dannie was on a training trip to Italy. She done amazing to get the flat ready for our family before Dannie returned.
Dannie bought Kayleigh’s horse Barbie for her, something he drunkenly promised he would do on the weekend we met!
We spend our first (of many!) nights away together on a break to Loch Lomond. We fell in love with the area and decided then that we would visit time and time again. We stayed just a stone’s throw from our proposal spot.
2017
Kayleigh hesitantly agreed to attend a Metal gig with Dannie. She was very apprehensive to begin with but ended up having a surprisingly brilliant night!
2018
Dannie repaid the favour and attended an Ed Sheeran gig with Kayleigh. He had the best night and was very keen to go to more concerts with her, no matter what artist was playing.
2019
We got the news that Kayleigh was pregnant again and we were all over the moon.
Alfie was born and made us a family of 4. We were all so happy. Kayleigh done amazing even though her labour was very hard – she was home within 12 hours of leaving for the hospital!!!
2020
We went in to lock-down when Alfie was 5 months old. Lock-down meant Dannie could work very flexibly from home. We had a brilliant year together and got to spend lots of time as a family, doing lots of fun things and enjoying every moment. It was a struggle getting back to normal!
Leo had been riding his Shetland pony Thelwell for a few years but Kayleigh managed to buy Thelwell and we welcomed him to our family in time for Leo’s 5th birthday.
2021
We finally managed to have the date we always wanted. Kayleigh went a big hack on Barbie and Dannie was able to come along on his mountain bike! This had been a dream of ours for a long time.
When we found out that Kayleigh was pregnant with our 3rd and final baby, we were over the moon. We would have been happy either way but both secretly hoped we would get our baby girl to complete out family.
Layla was born in December with Hyperinsulinism which meant she spent the first 3 weeks of her life in the special care unit at the BGH. She got home before Christmas which we felt was the best present anyone could give us!
Her condition meant that she needed blood tests every day and her feeding routine was managed very closely for months. This was our biggest test yet but we managed to pull together and got out the other end unscathed!
Layla even managed to meet both the family horses before the year was over!
2022
Layla was given the all clear from Hyperinsulinism which was an amazing feeling! This meant no more blood tests, strict feeding routine or mummy and daddy needing to get up at silly o’clock in the morning to tend to her.
We took the kids on a very last minute holiday to Arrochar – little did we know this would be the location of our future proposal!
2023
Dannie FINALLY asked Kayleigh to Marry him on the banks of Loch Long during a trip to our favourite place.
We threw an engagement party 1 month after we got engaged – everyone had a brilliant night!
We found our perfect venue and secured our booking – wedding planning commences!
2024
Wedding planning galore!
Started our new tradition of having a date night on the 21st of each month on the lead up to our big day.
Spent a romantic night at our wedding venue and had a great time! In true “us style” we ended up getting drunk with the hotel owner and the chef!
